Mentoring and Choices! ~UPDATE

As I’ve been rambling on about it quite a few times, I’m sure you’re aware I want to do some mentoring of some kind at my college.  Well, looks like I’m officially in.  Times and such haven’t been set but I’m sure we’ll work that out.  It’s all formal-looking as I received an email stating the code of conducts and rules and regulations etc.  Should be good stuff.  The ‘interviewing’ process that happened today was something I had never experienced before.  It was a group interview type thing (which I only found out about the day before) and it was pretty unusual.  For one thing, we started playing 20 Questions halfway through.  I can’t remember exactly what led to those circumstances though.  Anyway, the point is that 6 of us applied and we all got the job.  Except, we’re still being tested as up until the half-term we’re in, what I like to call, the “trial period.”  Where we have to keep an active log of who we deal with, where and when.  Sort of a pain in the ass if you ask me, but I’m being paid.  And if I’ve learned anything over the past 17 years of my life it’s that as long as your being paid the right amount, anything’s worth it.  And wow, that was a double entendre if I ever did see one.

Anywayz, moving swiftly on, I also had my first Career’s interview today.  It went pretty good actually, the woman there did a good job in helping decide what I wanted to do for the next few years.  She also showed me how much I’ve narrowed it down already without me consciously knowing so.  I’ve got a few courses in mind already, and also some universities that I think would be suitable.  The hardest part is deciding which one I like best.  Wish me luck, eh?

In other random news, the film for the Meniscus Film Festival – titled: “ANTICIPATION” – has been submitted… at least I think so.  I’m still unsure on whether it has or not, last week Jamie and I walked all the way there to that guy’s house to hand him the DVD.  We had to because it was the last day for submissions.  We slid it nonchalantly through his letterbox before we noticed that we only made one copy of the damn film and freaked out.  We spent the next few minutes double checking the house number and street sign to make sure we had the right place.  And it was… we think.  I told Jamie to check up on it, but he still hasn’t so I’m doubtful whether he has received it or not.  Meh, I guess it’s just me being paranoid since we worked quite hard on it.  And I’ve got to say, I’m quite proud of the little beast (little beast being a very bad metaphor for the film) and there are some genuine aspects where I think it looks damn professional.  And the other parts… well, let’s not talk about those shall we?  When, or if, they put the damn thing on YT I’ll be sure to link to it right away.  But until then, you’ll have to wait.  Sorry.

There’s also news about the 5-a-side league that we were thinking of joining, but so far have been unable to do so.  Ash got a call that we can replace a team that has dropped out mid-season.  Which means we’re joining half way through the season so the points (if we get any) are worth shit but oh well.  I’ll be playing for fun anyway.  It just means less pressure for us.

Oh and I’ve also been trying the new Messenger BETA and it’s quite good.  Everything looks, well, bigger.  As well as cleaner and more minimalistic which is always a pro in my book.  And frankly, the tiled mood thing is awesome.  I suggest you check it out as well.

…

If you think I’m gonna provide the link than you’d be wrong.  I seriously CBA at the mo, so you’re going to have to google-it-you-moron.  I mean, how hard can it be?

Oh, and DRAGON BALL.

Wow, that looks beyond suckage.

[UPDATE] I just completed my analysis section for my Computing project.  And it was actually quicker than I thought.  It was still a pain in the proverbial ass, but at least it’s done now.  Just the other sections to go… Well, when we get to it.  The Analysis was in for tomorrow and I had hardly done anything!  Thank god I’m quick at typing since it clocked in just under 2000 words and 8 pages.  All that in about 2/3 hours.  Insane.

Anywayz, I still need to decide on my 5 choices and I’ve broadened my search so that it incorporates London as well and some other cities and towns.  ‘Cos originally I wanted to go to a Uni near a large~ish city but not London because of the insane costs.  But now, thinking about it… London wouldn’t be all that bad I reckon.  It’ll certainly be more lively than where I’m living now; hell Humdrum’s more lively than this place.*  So far I’ve marked a few prospective Uni’s that look promising.  Leeds U, Manchester U and possibly even Aston.  Problem is, I have to decide which is my first choice now.  And since it will affect my next 3/4 years, and possibly the rest of my life, I’m going to pick wisely.  Which is a first for me.  :P

Healthy again! ~ Shrek 3

Yea!  I am healthy again, thanks for asking.  Which was none of you by the way.  It makes me feel so wanted...

Also, I finally got round to watching Shrek 3.  Oh, wait.  I mean Shrek the Third.  See what the movie people did there?

After much begging and nagging my (younger) sisters forced us to go to the cinema to watch it.  They put out a load of crackpot theorems that really didn't make any sense.  Like:

  • The cinema has a better atmosphere.  Yea, people talking about you and generally throwing popcorn.  Was my response.

It was not until we decided to go to KFC afterwards that I went.  More on that later.

Shrek 3 the Third was not bad actually.  Better than it's prequel anyway, I think.  What's more, it actually made some sense to me.  And there were some generally hilarious bits in it.  Like Puss in Boots swapping bodies with donkey.

But because we went to the cinema it got me psyched about other films.  Most notably:

  • The Simpsons Movie
  • Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix
  • Transformers: The Movie

Now, they are all blockbusters I know.  But I generally wasn't that interested in them.  Simpsons episodes have grown quite stale for me.  I read the books of HP and they are generally better than the films.  And Transformers... well, I was going to see if I could watch that online.

I wanna watch the Simpsons Movie now for one reason:

'SPIDERPIG!'

LMAO.  I was ROFL in the cinemas, and so were many others.  The animation was good as well.  If the whole movie is of this caliber than it will be one of the best films of the year.

Then came KFC.  I'm not going to talk much about this bit.  The food was good and everything was fine.  As luck would have it, going to the cinema gave us vouchers for KFC.  The vouchers were basically the back of the tickets.

All was well.  Until...  we started to leave.  One staff working there said as we were walking out: 'Hey, where you going?  Tidy your table!'

I was like: 'WTF?!  Lady, ain't that your job?'  But her over-powering KFC badge made me reconsider.  I wouldn't want to be banned from all KFCs around the globe now, would I?

The situation really poses a question to me.  Does this happen elsewhere in the world?  Seriously though.  I wouldn't mind being a cleaner at McDonalds/KFC if all I do is shout: 'HEY YOU!  CLEAN YOUR F*&@ING-ASS TABLE NOW!'

And I'd think people would generally tidy the tables.  To avoid a row.  Now, that could spawn a whole new line of work.  I can see it now in the newspapers: 'JOB WANTED FOR: TABLE TIDIER SHOUTER PERSON'  I would fit the bill exactly.

Ok, enough of my random ranting and stuff.  The thing you've all been begging for:

A new story arc.

Yea... about that.  I thought Gavin would have started one off.  Lazy b*&%#@.  Well, I actually haven't thought of anything either.  So, I can't complain.  I'm going to try and start something off spontaneously.  Off the top of my head.

2 weeks have passed since the trolf incident and all is well in Grimsby where Gavin & WJUK lay dormant...

'I'm bored...'  I exasperate.

'Me too.'  agrees Gavin.

'How about we play tiddlywinks?'  Lewis suggests.

'FOR THE LAST TIME LEWIS.  NO!'  Me and Gavin had been getting that question all day.  It seems Lewis has fallen in love with tiddlywinks.  Being so far from civilization for so long must have fried his brain.  Poor Lewis.  That girl did ruin his life...

BRRING BRRING  (By the way, if you have no idea what this is: it's my lame-ass attempt to recreate a phone ringing sound.  Dumbass.)

I walk over to pick up the phone.

'Who is it?  Gimely.  Oh hey!  How's Antarctica?'  Last week Gimely had returned to Antarctica.  "Family Emergency"  he said.  But I didn't care less.

I put the phone back down.

'How's Gimely?'  Asks Gavin.

'Oh, he's good.  He's just bored over there.  He explicitly said: "Don't you dare go on an adventure without me."  And he's coming back in a week or so.'

'So... how about we find an adventure?'  ~ Gavin

'Er... how?'  I said.  Lewis still playing with his tiddlywinks.

'You know.  We could do it Pokemon style.'

'What?  Walk around aimlessly and hope to find an adventure that isn't filler.'

'Yea.  Pretty much.'

'Dude that is the most... BRILLIANT IDEA EVER!'

We got our stuff packed.  And set off in search of adventure.

<An unknown amount of time passes>

'I'm hungry... I don't think I can go on anymore.  Quick, leave without me...'  I gasp.  Crawling on the floor.

'What are you talking about?  We've barely just set foot out the door.'  Gavin says while making a smacking forehead gesture.

'Oh...  My bad.  Time always eludes me.'  I got up.

'Hey Gavin, WJUK.  Take a look at this.'  It was Lewis.  He was about ten feet away.  Poking his head out of the bush.  After he finished talking his head disappeared into the mangle of leaves.

'This better not be tiddlywinks-related.'  Gavin sighs.

'I think he's found something interesting...'  I say while we both start walking towards where we saw Lewis' head.

We venture in.  The bushes branches feel rough and textured on my skin.  I see nothing but bush.  Until we reach 2 feet in.  A small clearing.  Lewis was standing there gleaming like a little child who had been praised by there parent for the first time.  And, more importantly, to the left of him was another one of those portals.

You know, the portals the trolfs used etc.

I think our adventure begins now...

What lies behind the portal?  Find out next time...

Sunday - Badminton & Movies...

Right... Today's Sunday. So we decided to go to Lincoln to play badminton. Damn... Now I'm dead tired.

But today I owned, pwnage style. But after a while we decided that seeing as we have a big sports hall to mess around in...

We took out some other equipment and started messing. Oh, you've gotta be there to see it. We took a basketball out and we were trying to do full-court shots; it's nackering for the arms. Heck, this kid pulled a shotput from the cupboard and decided to throw it... it dropped on his foot. LMAO!!! PWN3D!

Well, all you need to know is that today was awesome in so many aspects. But I'm going to play badminton tomorrow [again] so I'm going to be dead tired. Ok, maybe not 'dead tired' but still bloody tired.

The other thing is that I've been watching a lot of movies lately. All good ones - which is a relief. Just thought I'd sure with you the joy of watching them...

For anyone who wants to rant about me talking about films suddenly - go to the [naughty] wall. It's my blog, I can rant/blog/post about anything I want. :P

Note: I watched all of these legally... yes *ahem* legally -
You: No you didn't...
Me: Shhhh... Yes I did.

... On to the movies - You: Quit changing the subject!
Me: Just go away!

Spiderman 3 - Watched this while ago, but... meh. Awesome film... maybe not as good as the first 2 in terms of plot etc.

Good: CGI is amazing.

Bad: Should be more fighting a lot more fighting.

What makes it awesome: Black-suit/symbiote-suit and also [kinda] Venom

Next - Also an awesome film. Based around dude who sees into the future for 2 minutes, until he meets this girl...

Good: Good plot, the main character dude (don't know his name, cba to check) fits perfectly to the role.

Bad: Not enough fighting again... and oh, no ninjas.

What makes it awesome:
He can see into the future... need I say more.

One Piece Movie 6 - Another awesome film. Luffy & crew go to an island that is suppose to be recreational but things don't exactly don't turn out that way... (Btw, if you don't know what One Piece is: 'One Piece is an insane anime/manga following Luffy who ate the 'Gomu Gomu Fruit' which makes him a 'Rubber Rubber Man' {Gomu = Rubber} who want to be 'Pirate King.' His crew consists of: 'Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Robin, Usopp [and now Franky - but not in Movie].' They all have talents and traits but you gotta see it to believe it.)

Good: It's One Piece - which is insane already in the anime/manga; now you get a full 2 hours of it! Animation was amazing. It's not suitable for young children because the main villain does an Akira (If you don't know what that is... watch Akira... or this film) - freaked my little sister out. For final punch, the art style goes all line-arty; which is awesome btw.

Bad: Not much of a plot-line; well it does have a plot line but just doesn't fit the anime/manga... you know what I mean. Should be more fighting. Luffy didn't have 'Gears.' The One Piece insane humour isn't as evident.

What makes this awesome: Animation, Luffy (come on, he's a 'Rubber Man') and Zoro (hey, he has three, yes three swords!) and also the bit when the villain goes 'Akira-style.'

They were all good films and - in fact - I'm hoping to watch some more over the coming days...

You: Hey... Don't you have exams on Tuesday?
Me: Er... No?
You: Go do revision NOW!
Me: What if I say... no?
You: Then you die!!! *eyes flare up into flames*
Me: Sorry! Sorry! *runs off*

Check back for some more... er... stuff tomorrow.

'Bowling' - Ok, I've pretty much squeezed all the juice out of Ashley-being-retarded-due-to-hurting-his-hand-bowling joke. I promise this is the last time you hear of it... ever. RIP Ashley-retardedness joke; may you bring laughter to everyone in Heaven Hell... *cue funeral music*
